For the third time in a week, a product at Trader Joe’s is being recalled — this time it’s the Fully Cooked Falafel because it “may contain rocks.”
Last Friday, the popular grocery store chain announced it was recalling TWO COOKIE PRODUCTS AFTER IT DISCOVERED THEY MIGHT ALSO CONTAIN ROCKS.
And on Thursday, it said its Unexpected BROCCOLI CHEDDAR SOUP is being RECALLED in 7 states because the product “may contain INSECTS.”
The recall of the Fully Cooked Falafel affects the product in at least 33 STATES, the company announced Friday.
All the potentially affected product have been REMOVED from stores or DESTROYED, Trader Joe’s said.

“If you purchased or received any donations of Fully Cooked Falafel, please do not eat them. We urge you to discard the product or return it to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund,” the announcement said.
The recall of broccoli cheddar soup affects the 20-ounce product in Florida, Illinois, California, Texas, Washington, Pennsylvania and Connecticut, the FDA said. There are 10,889 affected cases in all, the FDA said.

The cookie recall affects the Trader Joe’s Almond Windmill Cookies and its Dark Chocolate Chunk and Almond Cookies.
In a statement Friday, Trader Joe’s said it is proactive in letting customers know about potential problems with its products.
“We will never leave to chance the safety of the products we offer. We err on the side of caution and are proactive in addressing issues. We take action quickly, aggressively investigating potential problems and removing product from sale if there is any doubt about its safety or quality,” the statement said.
“We don’t wait for regulatory agencies to tell us what to do. We share news through in-store signs, on our website, and through email alerts as soon as we need to let our customers know there might be a concern with any of our products. We take these matters seriously — personally, even, as our families eat and drink TJ’s products, too.”

Lakeside Refrigerated Services Recalls Ground Beef Products Due to Possible E. coli O103 Contamination
(The Labels for the ground beef products can be found BY CLICKING ON VISIT WEBSITE)
FSIS Announcement
WASHINGTON, April 25, 2022 – Lakeside Refrigerated Services, a Swedesboro, N.J. establishment, is recalling approximately 120,872 pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O103, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.
The ground beef products were produced from February 1, 2022, through April 8, 2022. The complete list of products and product codes for the beef products that are subject to recall can be found here. Labels for the ground beef products can be found here.
The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 46841” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations nationwide.
The problem was discovered during routine FSIS testing of imported products. There have been no confirmed reports of illness or adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
Many clinical laboratories do not test for non-O157 Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) such as O103 because it is harder to identify than STEC O157:H7. People can become ill from STECs 2–8 days (average of 3–4 days) after consuming the organism.
Most people infected with STEC O103 develop diarrhea (often bloody) and vomiting. Some illnesses last longer and can be more severe. Infection is usually diagnosed by testing of a stool sample. Vigorous rehydration and other supportive care is the usual treatment; antibiotic treatment is generally not recommended. Most people recover within a week, but, rarely, some develop a more severe infection. Hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a type of kidney failure, is uncommon with STEC O103 infection. HUS can occur in people of any age but is most common in children under 5 years old, older adults and persons with weakened immune systems. It is marked by easy bruising, pallor and decreased urine output. Persons who experience these symptoms should seek emergency medical care immediately.
FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
Media and consumers with questions regarding the recall can contact Lakeside Refrigerated Services at 800-493-9042 or customercare@lakesiderefrigerated.com.
Consumers with food safety questions can call the toll-free USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-MPHotline (888-674-6854) or live chat via Ask USDA from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Eastern Time) Monday through Friday. Consumers can also browse food safety messages at Ask USDA or send a question via email to MPHotline@usda.gov. For consumers that need to report a problem with a meat, poultry, or egg product, the online Electronic Consumer Complaint Monitoring System can be accessed 24 hours a day at https://foodcomplaint.fsis.usda.gov/eCCF/.

OLYMPIA – Abbott Nutrition has expanded its voluntary recall of certain powdered infant formulas produced at the company’s manufacturing facility in Sturgis, Michigan, because of possible Cronobacter contamination. Parents and caregivers should not feed their babies recalled Similac, Alimentum, or EleCare powdered formulas.
In Washington, at least 18,000 families who receive formula through the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program may be involved in the recall. A similar number of families not on WIC may also be using recalled formula. Washington WIC is working hard to provide formula alternatives for families but cannot guarantee alternatives will be available in every store, so please call the store ahead of time to ensure the formula you need is available. WIC families can also reach out to WIC clinics and check the WIC shopping app for updates. Additionally, if you are feeding your baby both breastmilk and formula and want to do more breastfeeding, WIC has trained staff available to help. If you are not on WIC, please reach out to your health care provider for support.
Recalled powdered infant formulas include Similac PM 60/40 with lot code 27032K80 (can) / 27032K800 (case), in addition to Similac, Alimentum, or EleCare powdered formula products that have all three of these conditions:
First two digits of the code are 22 through 37, and
The container contains “K8,” “SH,” or “Z2,” and
The use-by date is 4-1-2022 (APR 2022) or later.
Product lot codes can be found on the bottom of the package.
To confirm if a product is included in the recall, customers can enter their product lot code on Abbott Nutrition’s website or call 1-800-986-8540.
If a formula you own is included in the recall, immediately stop feeding it to your baby and return it for a refund at the store where you bought it.
You can also return it to Abbott Nutrition.
If you cannot find the code on the powdered formula package, do not use it. If the formula you use is not included in the recall, it is still safe to use and does not need to be thrown out or returned.
The first symptom of Cronobacter infection in infants is usually a fever accompanied by poor feeding, excessive crying, or very low energy. Some infants may have seizures. Contact your child’s health care provider if your baby is experiencing these symptoms or if they consumed the recalled formula.
Parents and caregivers should never dilute powdered infant formula and should not make or feed homemade formula to infants. Additional information on formula preparation and storage can be found on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s website.
The recall remains under investigation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. At this time, no known cases have been reported in Washington.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control is asking Americans to check their onions after a salmonella outbreak sickened more than 650 people across the country.
According to the CDC, cases tied to the contaminated onions started appearing on Sept. 1.
The CDC said fresh, whole red, white and yellow onions imported from Chihuahua, Mexico are impacted.
They were distributed by ProSource Inc. to both grocery stores and restaurants throughout the United States .
The company last imported the impacted onions on Aug. 27, but the onions can last for up to three months in storage and might still be in homes and businesses, the CDC said.
In total, there are 652 reported cases tied to the outbreak in 37 states. Texas, Oklahoma, Virginia, Maryland and Illinois had the highest number of cases reported. California, Oregon, South and North Dakota, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Florida, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York also all had reported cases.
There have been 129 hospitalizations as a result of the outbreak but so far no deaths have been reported. The CDC said investigators are working to figure out if other onions and suppliers are linked to the outbreak.
The CDC also advised businesses to check storage coolers for the impacted onions.
“If you can’t tell where they are from, throw them away,” the CDC website reads.
“Wash and sanitize any surfaces that may have come in contact with these onions.”
Most people infected with salmonella develop symptoms, including diarrhea, fever and stomach cramps, within six hours to six days of being exposed to the bacteria. The illness typically lasts between four and seven days, and most people recover without treatment. Children younger than five, adults 65 or older and people with weakened immune systems are more likely to have a severe reaction.
